About Precious and Layla

It was one of the coldest winters in memory when Precious hatched on Feb. 21, 1996. We employed extra-ordinary effort to maintain nest-box warmth, thereby allowing him to remain with his parents, BE Founder Pair #1 (Ira and Eureka). He remained with them until late fall of that year.

Layla hatched on July 9, 2001 and was raised until the summer of 2002 by her wild-caught parents Prophecy and Fantasy at The Blues Conservatory. Layla spent several years in the Flock environment.

Precious and former mate Virginia did not seem happy together anymore. Virginia moved into the Flock and Layla moved in with Precious.

The switch was made in March 2005, and Precious and Layla have been a happy and affectionate pair since.
